Springtime Roofing with Clayton Construction

Winter is over and late March is the perfect time to get out on your roof and do an inspection to make sure your roof doesn’t have any damage or need to be replaced.

The good folks at Clayton Construction in Goodlettsville, TN compiled this list from the National Roofing Contractors Association of what to look for to tell if your roof needs some fixing.

1.     Inside your home, look for
a.     Places where the roof is sagging
b.     Signs of water spots or leaking
c.      Dark spots or trails
d.     Outside light showing through the roof
2.     Outside, when you’re on the roof look for
a.     Missing, curling, blistering, buckling, and rotting shingles, as well as algae growth.
b.     Check for damage around pipes, chimneys and vents.  Any opening to the household is a hot spot for roof damage
c.      Check your gutters for shingle granules (tiny pieces of asphalt shingles that wash out with excessive weathering).
